Eight of us booked this beautiful Saturday ride, I was on Helga the biggest most gentlest horse they have atCactus... Jack’s. We had 2 children age 7, they rode their own horses. The horses where awesome for them with no experience. All the horses looked to be well taken care of and well fed the guides were extremely fun and knowledgeable. Maddie was a true pleasure to have as our guide. Amy was very good also and Johnny was awesome.read more

Omg! I had the best experience on a trail ride with a quarter horse called River, he’s was an absolute gentleman, as... were all the horses on the trail. We had Mr Josh upfront leading & Mr Johnny at the back, giving us information about the horses & the area. My 7 year old first time riding a horse! It was an experience bday present from Gran and my daughter loved it! This is a... great place for first timers, especially children, who just want the experience of riding a horse (instead of playing cowboy). My husband joined her and said she had an absolute blast. She rode 'Desi' an older horse and I feel that was perfectly matched. I can't wait to go next time and join her as I'm sure she will want to go again. My husband was glad the site said to arrive 30 minutes early. We live on the east coast and we planned accordingly for traffic and stops. He liked the explanation time and the ability for our child to see the horse before mounting and going. Thank you again, Cactus Jack, for a great birthday treat for my horse girl.read more

I took my daughter for her 6th birthday to horseback ride and she didn’t stop smiling the entire 1.5 hour. Ms. Suzie was... our guide and she gave us a wonderful time. She took time to show my daughter exactly what to do. She gave us some really cool information on the area and the River that used to flow through the greenway. Our group of 4 friends went out yesterday with guides Johnny and Sherry (I don't know correct spelling of her name,... sorry!), the group totaled about 11 people. The guides were super patient with the beginner riders, they were fun and informative. It was a nice ride through Ocala Forest. The horses were well mannered, especially since that day we encountered several other packs of horses due to an endurance race. My 2 kids and I went for a one hour trail ride with Dwayne and Steven last Thursday during our family vacation. It was... great! My son was so excited to finally get to ride a horse. The guys gave them both helmets and gave us some basic instructions before they brought the horses over to the platform. How to slow down, stop, reverse and steer your horse - especially around some low hanging limbs and bushes that were close to the trail, things like that. My family and I enjoyed our 60 minute trail ride, we went in the early morning before it got hot. All the horses are... obviously well taken care of, used to being around people and knew the route well. The host and trail guides are awesome, organized and know each horses personalities. We loved how quiet and serene the area is along the route. it is does get quite dusty in some spots, so if you're sensitive to dust, bring a neck gaiter to cover your mouth and nose. We are already planning a longer ride on our next visit :)!read more

I selected this stable out of the plethora of local offerings, given the website indicated the majority of the horses... were rescued. Once I arrived, I could see that love reigns here. While waiting for our ride to begin, I spent time doting on the horses. It was apparent that some were elderly and others were neglected in the past. However, they are now well-taken care of, as indicative of their appearances and gentle natures. The hands were considerate in selecting appropriate matches for the two-hour long tour, based on personality, experience, and size. I was fortunate enough to ride Dude, a spunky, middle-aged Arabian. We proved to be a perfect match. He would seize any possible opportunity to open up into a canter. However, if he became a bit too feisty, he politely obeyed my riding signals. (Which is a sign of proper training.) I will certainly return to Rock Springs Run Trail Rides for another adventure. I feel they strive to ensure these horses have a chance to enjoy a life that they may otherwise have missed out on, had they not be saved. That is enough reason for me to support this stable and its mission to provide enjoyable riding experiences for human and horse alike.read more

I have been to at least five other trail riding establishments in 3 different states. This was the BEST! A gentleman... named Tim had the paperwork and a bottle of water waiting for us when we arrived. The stables were clean, the horses were saddled and ready to go. He took time to choose certain horses for us according to our size and ability. And after he helped us to mount our horses, he tightened the cinches one last time. (My husband’s cinch was not tight enough on a previous ride at Sun City, causing his saddle to slip, resulting in his falling off of the horse.) As he guided us through the beautiful Florida State Park which borders the property, he kept pausing to see if we had questions or issues with our horse. There were no swamps as were present in Sun City. Had we chosen, we would’ve been allowed to trot briefly in the appropriate places. And he let us pose as a group on our horses as he used our phone to take pictures at the end of the ride. Everything at Cactus Jack’s looked very nicely maintained. Buildings were painted, fence were all in perfect shape, there was grass growing where it should’ve been and it was nicely mowed. I would recommend Cactus Jack’s to anybody wanting to go on a trail ride and I will be back again.read more

As an experienced rider, trail rides can be boring but not with this group. I was matched with Big Belle who was gentle as a lamb, but gave me just enough of a challenge to make the ride fun!! I’ve ridden here every time I come down to Florida and will continue to come back! First and foremost, the horses are... all in fantastic body condition, fed really good quality hay, and have well fitting tack. I learned that they get turned out, rotated between both the Orlando and Ocala facilities so they have different scenery, AND are given ‘vacations’ where they don’t work and just relax in a field. I would NEVER EVER consider a place where I didn’t feel the horses were cared for and they really do a top notch job! I had scheduled my first ride months ago and just figured ‘eh, a group trail with other people would be alright!’ The group I was with was very nice but entirely beginners. It was slow going but the horses were fabulous and really took care of everyone. I had an adorable, sassy mare who was nipping the horse in front’s bum constantly! It was a lovely trail through live oaks but definitely a little TOO slow for me. I was told by Trish that they do private guided rides during the week. I found another morning that would work and gave them a call to book. Best decision ever! My next ride was just one on one, Trish and I. We were able to chat, had some lovely trots and got to see some trails I’d never gone on before! One went past the Florida Horse Park and I could check out some of the property. My horse this time was a brilliant gelding named Sparky (I think?). He was super smart and a great mover with comfortable gaits. Great personality! It was super fun to be able to chitchat with Trish who loves the horses so much! Not to mention it was a little faster paced and more exciting! I’ve never ridden in an Australian Stock Saddle before (I ride English) so I was a great experience. All in all, I can’t wait to go back and will definitely be doing the private ride again. Worth every extra penny to be able to see some different things with an experienced guide! Even so, beginners and those who have never ridden will have a wonderful time. The guides put a lot of thought into choosing the right horse for the right person! I highly recommend Cactus Jack’s!!read more

We took 1.5 hr trail ride with 7 people (2 were kids) in ocala. All of us were beginners and they did a fabulous job... matching the horses to the riders. The horses were very well trained and truly did the work for us. The trail itself was absolutely gorgeous and most of it was well shaded so it wasnt too hot.
