My husband and I had a great time here! Neither of us had ever ridden a horse outside of pony rides when we were young,... but the staff made us feel comfortable and we had fun. Highly recommend! Took my 3 granddarlings on a ride yesterday morning, Rachel and Sam were the best! Two of the riders were beginners,... and just as in many times past the horses were well partnered with rider skill. The guide/trailmasters were energetic and caring, gave the girls some tips as they rode. The trail is just beautiful old Florida. Thank you for a wonderful morning of memories!read more

My girls and I went riding at the Ocala location and we had a great time. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the... horses are very well cared for and extremely gentle. As an experienced rider, trail rides can be boring but not with this group. I was matched with Big Belle who was gentle as a lamb, but gave me just enough of a challenge to make the ride fun!! I’ve ridden here every time I come down to Florida and will continue to come back! First and foremost, the horses are... all in fantastic body condition, fed really good quality hay, and have well fitting tack. I learned that they get turned out, rotated between both the Orlando and Ocala facilities so they have different scenery, AND are given ‘vacations’ where they don’t work and just relax in a field. I would NEVER EVER consider a place where I didn’t feel the horses were cared for and they really do a top notch job! I had scheduled my first ride months ago and just figured ‘eh, a group trail with other people would be alright!’ The group I was with was very nice but entirely beginners. It was slow going but the horses were fabulous and really took care of everyone. I had an adorable, sassy mare who was nipping the horse in front’s bum constantly! It was a lovely trail through live oaks but definitely a little TOO slow for me. I was told by Trish that they do private guided rides during the week. I found another morning that would work and gave them a call to book. Best decision ever! My next ride was just one on one, Trish and I. We were able to chat, had some lovely trots and got to see some trails I’d never gone on before! One went past the Florida Horse Park and I could check out some of the property. My horse this time was a brilliant gelding named Sparky (I think?). He was super smart and a great mover with comfortable gaits. Great personality! It was super fun to be able to chitchat with Trish who loves the horses so much! Not to mention it was a little faster paced and more exciting! I’ve never ridden in an Australian Stock Saddle before (I ride English) so I was a great experience. All in all, I can’t wait to go back and will definitely be doing the private ride again. Worth every extra penny to be able to see some different things with an experienced guide! Even so, beginners and those who have never ridden will have a wonderful time. The guides put a lot of thought into choosing the right horse for the right person! I highly recommend Cactus Jack’s!!read more

They ask you to say if your a beginner, intermediate, or experienced on the website. So I filled it in, my husband... having owned horses as a youngster as an intermediate and myself, having ridden on and off since 7 years of age and having owned my own for the past 20 years, as an experienced rider. Also gave them a little background information on us both outlining what ive just said above. This was subsequently completely ignored. My husband and I were put with 4 other complete and almost complete novices. I actually spoke to the guide before we got on and clarified our experience. We were then both insulted when she told us how to direct the horses, not that they needed any direction - it was like riding a carousel horse! The only bit of personality that any of them had/showed was mine, as he had a habit of nipping at the others given half a chance. I was insulted again when she told me that I had done well and pulled him up from nipping horse in front! We were both insulted again when we were all told that we weren't allowed to get off on our own, but had to wait and get off via mounting block, which she also had the audacity to lead me to instead of just letting me ride the horse there! Let's put it this way, won't be going again and certainly will not be recommending it!read more

We took 1.5 hr trail ride with 7 people (2 were kids) in ocala. All of us were beginners and they did a fabulous job... matching the horses to the riders. The horses were very well trained and truly did the work for us. The trail itself was absolutely gorgeous and most of it was well shaded so it wasnt too hot. Bonus point for cool stone and grass bridge over the highway. We will definitely be going back.read more
